Safe Haven Thrift Shop

In November 2003, the Safe Haven Thrift Shop became a program of Safe Haven. The Thrift Shop is managed by Susan McNeil with Jennifer Holt as assistant manager. The Shop is staffed by over 60 dedicated volunteers.

The Safe Haven Thrift Shop, 82-H Bennett Square, Southbury is open Monday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The shop carries clothing and shoes for women as well as house wares and furniture.

The Thrift Shop accepts used clothing and shoes for women, purses, household items, small appliances in good working condition. The Thrift Shop will also accept furniture upon approval.

Due to the very high cost of our dumping fees, the Thrift Shop cannot accept:

  • Exercise equipment
  • Tires
  • Computers and Accessories
  • Mattresses
  • Car Seats
  • Large Children's Toys
  • Paint Cans
  • Large Appliances
  • Skis
  • Men's clothing & men's shoes

Donations may be dropped off on Monday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Thrift Shop relies on volunteers. Volunteers work in three- hour shifts from 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p. m. Volunteers are needed to sort and price items, merchandising and sales.

"Volunteering at the Thrift Shop is a great way to make friends, get bargains and help a good cause."

All proceeds from the shop support the Safe Haven Southbury office.
